Dr. Dan: The ‘Doctors' Doctor’
For many years, I had an unusual role in medicine—I was the doctor that other doctors turned to for their own care. As a primary care physician at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, I cared for over 400 Harvard physicians, along with elite scientists, executives of the MGB health system, and their families. These were people who understood medicine at the highest level, and they sought out care that went beyond the standard guidelines.
It was humbling taking care of some of the world’s top medical authorities — I had five former Rhodes Scholars as patients! It was also a great opportunity to learn their secrets—medications they trusted, tests they wanted, and habits they swore by for long-term health. All I had to do was listen. Since this recognition, I’ve felt driven to deliver remarkable care that delights patients with every interaction, while giving me the satisfaction of practicing the very latest and best medicine.
Primary care can be so much better than what most of us know. That’s why I created Portfolio Health—to bring this level of thoughtful, cutting-edge care to a select group of members who want a smarter, more strategic approach to their health. My goal is to give members more than just access to ‘the doctors’ doctor.’ I believe that our model will help you live longer, live better, and love your primary care again.
